Cutting Edge Oils : Part 2

If you read last weeks blog we hope you liked our introduction to our amazing Raw OIls. ( if you have not yet read it we suggest you do)!!  Our Raw oils are quite profound, the processing makes them retain so much of their nutritional profile and the tastes and options for use are truly endless.  We went on last week to explain in detail a few of our oils and we would like to get in depth about a few more this week and next.

Flax Seed OIl is quite popular, because as we know Flax Seed are packed with vitamins, minerals and healthy fats.  Our Flax Oil differs from most because our exclusive pressing processing guarantees that our oils are raw with all their nutritional benefits intact.  Our Oils also have a long shelf life when stored properly, we preserve them in Miron glass which offers the best protection from the harmful affects light can have on the potency of the oils.   They will not go rancid when stored in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight.

Our Flax oil is packed with magnesium, iron, zinc, selenium, calcium and phosphorus.  Vitamins B6 B3 and K can also be found in Flax Seeds.  As well as traces of Vitamin C and E.   With regular consumption Flax Seed Oil can help with cholesterol reduction, toxic build up in the bowels, skin breakouts, it acts as a natural joint lubricant and therefor is great for helping alleviate pain associated with arthritis and other painful condition.  It can help improve digestion, enhance the health and quality of ones hair, skin and nails.  Flax has been shown to also improve the power of the brain, allowing for better concentration, as well as improved cognition and memory.  This oil is also great at helping reduce injury and is very popular among athletes.

Flax Oil is fabulous on salads,  and a nice addition to many raw dip recipes.  It can easily be added to any smoothie, making it great for a post workout nutritional punch.  Drizzle it on top of sliced avocado and tomato for a quick healthy snack.

We also carry both Black and White Sesame Seed Oils,  the black variety of sesame seeds yield the best quality of oil and is also best suited for medicinal purposes. Both Oils contain fabulous health benefits and are a great addition to everyones cupboards ( and bodies!!)

Our oils are high in Vitamin E, did you know that Vitamin E can help reduce the risk of heart disease and may also help protect the body from certain cancers?

The Vitamin B family is such an essential nutrient for our bodies, responsible for things like energy, digestive health, healthy blood and nerve systems etc. Black sesame Oils is high in multiple forms which is great!

Sesame Oil has been used as a healing oil for so many years,  it is a natural antibacterial and anti viral.  It is a potent antioxidant and it penetrates into the skin quickly making it a great option for topical uses as well as internally.

Its external uses include and are not limited to the treatment of lice, psoriasis,  calming sun and wind burns,  athletes foot, prevention and treatment of diaper rash and oh so much more.  Youve really got to try this one for yourself, its a must in our kitchen as well as out first aid kit.

If you follow our blogs weekly you will remember that a few weeks back we talked about Oil Pulling Therapy( feel free to refer back to the blog if need be), anyway with the great benefits that Sesame Oil offers it makes it the perfect choice of oil for this therapy.  It can kill and prevent so many bacteria present in the mouth and throat and is a great treatment for gingivitis.

Try for yourself and reap the benefits.

Sesame oils has a lovely flavour, though the raw variety is far more pleasing than the often harsh strong tastes of roasted, highly processed varieties.  It is simply awesome used in raw cabbage salads,  it is a great addition to many dips and sauces, we love using it in our dip when we enjoy raw sushi rolls.  Great in hummus, and raw asian veggie wraps, this oil seriously is a staple.  It has so many uses and benefits we cant speak highly enough about its wonder.  Go ahead and grab yourselves a few bottles and let us know how much you love it!!

Have you already or will you try using Sesame Seed Oil for Oil Pulling Therapy?

Cutting Edge Oils!!!!!!

It has been a few months now but we had to share with you how proud and excited we are to announce our very own amazing Cold Pressed Raw Oils.  We have a vast variety to offer you, but this week we will focus on a few of the flavours we have to offer and in the weeks to come we will cover them all.  We will discuss how our oils are made and what makes them superior to most other oils out there as well as the benefits and uses of these truly spectacular oils.

These oils are the highest quality organic pressed oils on the market to date, wow!!  We only use the finest of quality of seeds in our oils.  These oils are pressed using a unique extraction process unlike any other in the world.  Laboratory tests have shown that  only 0.1 meq. 02kg of oxidation, this basically means that there is almost no oxidation at all in the oil.  Our oils stand alone in being the only ones with next to no oxidation present.  We are blessed to have the only machine to date in the world that can accomplish the amazing results that we have with these beautiful oils.  Our oils are the only oils that are not destroyed during the pressing process.   So many other ” good quality” oils out there can contain up to 30%-40% oxidation, not us!!  We want the best for ourselves and for our family, friends and valued customers.  Quality has always been important to us and we are very proud of the results we have achieved, we know you will too.
All our oils are under 120 degrees fahrenheit when extracted, not processed at all.  There is no grinding inside, no friction, and no nitrogen flash.  Truly and purely raw oils is what we have to offer!!
Shall we discuss some of the wonderful flavour choices, indeed we shall!!
It is not easy for us to pick an absolute favourite but certainly the  Hemp Seed Oil is high up on the list.  Hemp oil has so many benefits, it promotes healthy brain development, can help prevent heart disease, arthritis, high cholesterol, cancer and much more.  Packed with essential fatty acids and amino acids it provides much nutrition for the body, great for vegans!!
The Omega 3 fatty acids in our oils have been proven to be effective anti inflammatory agents aiding those who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory conditions.  Our Hemp Oil also contains vitals nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus.  Hemp Seed Oil has a great nutty flavour and is wonderful in salads, stir- fry dishes, raw granola bars and so much more.  It also acts as a great moisturizer, use it topically on dry cracked skin and lips.  What a great oil with so many benefits, we are so glad that our production of such a great oil still allows its benefits to fully shine through and truly make a difference.
Our Black Chia Seed Oil is very popular,  we sure know why!!  Chia seeds contain up to 5 times more calcium than cows milk and also contains boron which helps transfer the calcium to our bones.  Brilliant team!  Packed with antioxidants it helps fight free radical damage which are responsible for so many diseases out there today. Vitamins and minerals galore, you will find A, D, E and K as well as iron, manganese, and magnesium.  Help curb your appetite and aid in weight loss if necessary with this fibre oil.  Looking to strengthen your immune system?  Boost heart health?  Grab a bottle ( or 5 or 6)!!.
We love a little Chia Seed oil poured over raw granola and fruit, but it uses are many and we are sure you will not be disappointed 🙂

Gushing For Green!!

We have all heard the sentence ” eat your veggies” and likely for most of us we obey.  We not only know they are good for us, but happen to just love them as well.  Some of us know the amazing nutritional value in the vegetables we consume but some of us do not.  Here is a list of some fabulous  green veggies that we love and what nutrients and values they provide to us 🙂  Who knows maybe you can even convince others to eat a few more too!

Why we love Spinach: It is high in fibre, protein, iron, calcium, potassium and Vitamins A, C, E and K.  This green veggie is so versatile, perfect in fresh juices and smoothies and a great base for any salad.

We also love Arugula, it has a nice sort of nutty flavour that adds great tastes to salads and a top raw sandwich breads.  Arugula is like spinach and is high in protein, fibre, calcium and iron.  It also contains Vitamins A, C, K and some B vitamins too.

Another popular green vegetable, often a successful choice for kids as well is the lovely cucumber.  Cucumbers are 95% water  therefor great for keeping the body hydrated and eliminating toxins.  They have great anti inflammatory properties as well, we’ve all seen a picture of someone ( or done it ourselves) with cucumbers placed over ones eyes to decrease the puffiness. Cucumbers also contain phytochemicals that can help kill bacteria in the mouth that leads to bad breath.  Sipping on cucumber infused water is great for this.  Sliced up cucumbers go great with raw hummus and any other kind of dips of choice.

Collard Greens, related to kale and cabbage seem to be a staple in a lot of raw kitchens.  They make the perfect base for a veggie wrap.  Collards are an excellent source of folate ( essential for pregnant women), very high in Vitamins A, C and K as well as B vitamins.  Collards also contain iron, calcium, zinc and many more minerals.

Sticking with the colour green another favourite is broccoli,  a nice crunchy veggie that contains glucoraphanin, a substance that helps our skin detoxify and repair itself.  Broccoli contains both calcium and Vitamin K which makes it great for our bones.  Also abundant in Vitamin C it helps fight free radicals.

One of our most favourite greens, and so popular these days for obvious reasons would have to be Kale!!  Hail to the Kale, we love you so much!!  Kale is jam packed with iron, it is an anti inflammatory food and is also high in antioxidant vitamins.  Kale is filled with fibre and sulfur which make it a great detoxifying food choice.  Awesome in juices, its a must have for so many everyday and we totally understand why 🙂

Everything we eat either has a positive or negative reaction in our bodies, what we choose to eat is very important.  Keep your nutrition high and your meals tasty with some of these amazing green vegetables!!

Nuts For Brazil Nuts!!!!!!!!!!

If you are like us and so many others, then you love making/enjoying your own homemade raw nut milks!! So many amazing nutritious varieties to choose from, tasty, versatile and always good for us 🙂
One of our favs would certainly have to be Raw Brazil Nut Milk. Yes it tastes great but it goes further than that. Brazil Nuts are loaded with beneficial nutrients. This nut is considered a complete vegetarian protein as it has a full amino acid profile ( so for all those meat eaters out there who think you may not get enough protein simply mention the Brazil Nut!!) Also the Brazil Nut is one of the richest sources of selenium, a sometimes hard to find nutrient. By consuming just 2 Brazil nuts you can get the recommended daily dose, pretty great!! Selenium is a nutrient that’s deficiency has been linked to heart and prostate issues as well as cancers and immune system disturbances. Just 2 Brazil Nuts a day, why the heck not! Along with protein and selenium Brazil Nuts are a great source of calcium, zinc, iron, magnesium and B Vitamins. Keep in mind that It is important to buy your Raw Brazil Nuts from a reputable health food store and get them without shells ( as the shells do contain aflatoxins). You want to store them in the fridge as they are a nut very high in fat and there for more susceptible to rancidity. So just care for them properly and they will do the rest, as far as the nutrient content that is 🙂

Brazil Nut milk can be made just the same way as any other raw nut milk you make. This one tastes especially nice when blended with a bit of cacao powder and maca powder as well, delish!!
Enjoy it on its own, in a smoothie or maybe with a great bowl of raw granola!

What is your favourite kind of nut milk?
